A fresh twist has emerged in the murder case of Ketan Agarwal, with investigators now probing whether his fiancée Siya Goyal was forced by her lover, Chetan Chaudhary, to kill her would-be husband.
Sources said police are examining whether Chetan used their recorded phone calls and private messages to blackmail Siya.
Investigators are probing if he threatened to expose their relationship to the influential Agarwal family if she refused to go ahead with the murder plot.
Police are also analysing other digital evidence to determine whether Chetan forced Siya to remain part of the conspiracy by threatening to reveal her alleged role in the first murder attempt in May.
Investigators are further looking into whether Chetan’s original plan was to elope with Siya, but later changed to eliminating Ketan because of the wealth and social status linked to the Agarwal family.
Sources said police are probing whether Chetan hoped to exploit that connection through Siya later.
Siya’s bank accounts are also being audited to check if there was a money angle to the case.
According to sources, police are investigating whether Siya secretly transferred large sums of money to Chetan to fund his travel, clothing and logistics for the alleged murder attempts.
They are also probing whether Chetan demanded a major financial payout from Siya by using his knowledge of the failed May attempt as leverage.
Investigators are also verifying if Siya had promised Chetan a fixed monthly allowance or a lump-sum payment from her family’s resources once Ketan was removed from the picture.
Forensic teams are tracking whether Siya made any cash withdrawals in the days before the June 18 crime to pay Chetan for expenses incurred while allegedly following the couple.
Siya and Ketan had announced their engagement in February, and their grand wedding was scheduled for November.
Their families had reportedly booked a palace in Jaipur for Rs 17 crore and arranged two private planes to fly guests for the wedding.
However, the relationship ended in horror after Siya and Chetan allegedly killed Ketan by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort.
Police said this came days after an earlier failed attempt. On June 14, Siya allegedly took Ketan to the fort and pushed him, but he survived by grabbing a bush on the cliffside.
To cover her tracks, she allegedly created a distraction by shouting about a snake and then hugging him.
She later convinced Ketan to visit the fort again. This time, she allegedly called Chetan as well. Police claim the two then pushed Ketan from behind into the gorge, leading to his death.
Case files also suggest that the accused had prepared a “Plan C” in case the murder attempt failed.
Initially, Ketan’s death was believed to be an accidental fall while taking photos amid strong winds. However, police became suspicious after noticing that Siya showed no visible grief in her behaviour.
Police later arrested Siya and Chetan, who reportedly confessed to the crime.
On Thursday, both accused were questioned face-to-face by police. During interrogation, the two allegedly turned against each other, with each blaming the other for masterminding the murder.
