Alpha movie review release live updates: The latest instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, Alpha, has arrived in theatres with the distinction of being the first female-led spy actioner in the franchise • Starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as two assassin-spies, the film also features Bobby Deol as the antagonist and Anil Kapoor in a pivotal role.
• A heavy-duty spy thriller, Alpha is directed by Shiv Rawail, best known for his work on the Netflix series, The Railway Men.
• Alpha is connected to the larger YRF Spy Universe through the presence of Anil Kapoor (who was in War 2) and also includes a cameo from Hrithik Roshan, reprising his role as Kabir from the War films
• Alpha has released in theatres on July 3 after a short but eventful two days of advance bookings
• Alpha carried with itself lots of expectations to revive the YRF Spy Universe, which saw a box office bomb in War 2 last year and even Tiger 3 before that was an average performer
• Alpha brings the action to the women with Alia playing Sita, an assassin who has been raised to kill by her baba (Bobby Deol) but she must join forces with Sharvari to take him down after he goes rogue
• The advance bookings for the film opened this week, and the film sold over 90K tickets for the first day alone in India, grossing ₹3 crore
YRF has secured a wide release for Alpha, with the film getting 9000 shows across 2750 screens in India.
Alpha arrives in theatres as Cocktail 2 and Welcome to the Jungle are doing well at the box office. It will be a challenge for the film to find its place.
Alpha was originally looking to disappoint, staring at a low ₹4.5-5 crore net start domestically. But after the advance bookings picked up, the film is now predicted to earn over ₹6.5-7 crore on its opening day.
Impressed by the trailer of YRF's 'Alpha', AR Rahman shared the same on his X handle and extended his message to the entire team.
"Best wishes to @aliaa08 and the entire team of #Alpha. @AnilKapoor @thedeol #sharvari @yrf @shivrawail #adityachopra #akshaywidhani," the composer wrote on X.
Alpha sold almost 90K tickets in advance bookings for its first day, grossing over ₹3 crore, a healthy number after a slow start.
YRF must be banking upon Alpha to revive the Spy Universe after a tumultuous couple of years. The franchise, which found new life after Pathaan's success, then saw Tiger 3 underperform while last year's War 2 badly bombed at the box office.
The teaser of Alpha showed a glimpse of Hrithik Roshan, sending fans into a frenzy over the excitement of seeing his Spyverse character Kabir again
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is the first female-led film in YRF Spy Universe, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead roles.
