Maverick celebrity MLC of Andhra Pradesh Duvvada Srinivas, known for his theatrics along with his social media influencer wife Divvela Madhuri, triggered uproar all through the day on Tuesday when suddenly went missing while travelling to Kothuru Police Station to appear before investigators in connection with cases registered against him.
Duvvada Srinivas is facing criminal cases over his alleged objectionable remarks against Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan.
According to his supporters, he had informed them that he was heading to Kothuru Police Station to submit his explanation in connection with the cases.
However, they alleged that although several hours had passed since he left for the police station, he never reached the premises.
They further claimed that both Duvvada Srinivas’ mobile phone and that of his driver had been switched off, raising concerns over his whereabouts.
Sources said that later in the evening, Duvvada’s lawyer appeared before Kothuru Police and informed the authorities that his client was unable to attend the scheduled inquiry due to ill health. The lawyer reportedly requested additional time for Srinivas to appear before investigators.
Meanwhile, Divvela Madhuri, a close associate of Duvvada Srinivas, alleged that the police may have taken the MLC into custody.
She said the fact that his mobile phone was unreachable had further fuelled suspicions regarding his disappearance.
Kothuru Police, however, denied the allegations. Officials reportedly clarified that Duvvada Srinivas never arrived at the police station and asserted that the police had no role in his disappearance. Their denial has only intensified speculation over the MLC’s whereabouts.
The incident has caused anxiety among Duvvada’s supporters, who have expressed concern over his safety.
Reports also suggest that, as a precautionary measure, police placed Divvela Madhuri under house arrest to prevent any law-and-order issues.
The latest developments come shortly after Duvvada Srinivas had previously appeared before Kothuru Police for questioning.
On that occasion, hundreds of his supporters and party workers accompanied him in a rally-like procession to the police station, leading to tense situations in the area.
