Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have pulled up his cabinet colleagues from the party for failing to counter the recent criticism by YSR Congress party leaders against Jana Sena Party chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
In an informal interaction with ministers after the cabinet meeting, Naidu reportedly addressed the growing political attacks on both the state government and Pawan Kalyan.
According to sources, the Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the indifferent attitude of TDP ministers towards the YSRCP’s attacks on the Deputy Chief Minister. He is learnt to have guided ministers on how to handle the opposition’s criticism more effectively.
In recent months, Pawan Kalyan has been actively responding to several developments in the state, often taking a strong public stand on contentious issues.
His proactive approach has increasingly made him a target of criticism from YSRCP leaders.
However, political observers have noted that the Jana Sena chief has not always received adequate support from ministers, TDP leaders or even members of his own party in countering such attacks.
As a result, Pawan Kalyan has frequently been forced to respond personally to criticism from opposition leaders.
This was reportedly brought to the notice of the Chief Minister recently by Pawan Kalyan himself, as he sought stronger backing from coalition leaders.
Against this backdrop, Chandrababu Naidu reportedly instructed ministers during the cabinet meeting to respond forcefully whenever criticism is directed at Pawan Kalyan.
The Chief Minister emphasised that ministers should react strongly if attempts are made to drag the Deputy Chief Minister into controversies and should actively defend him in public discourse.
Naidu also urged ministers to promptly respond to allegations and criticism raised by the YSRCP on various issues instead of allowing opposition narratives to go unchallenged.
Analysts view Naidu’s directive as an effort to improve coordination within the ruling alliance and present a united front against opposition criticism.
