Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s much-awaited Telugu film Maa Inti Baangaram has finally hit the screens, and the first reactions on X are already pouring in. But the verdict is far from unanimous.
The BV Nandini Reddy directorial marks Samantha’s big-screen comeback after Shaakuntalam and Kushi. Naturally, expectations were high.
While many viewers are praising Samantha’s screen presence and performance, a section of the audience feels the film fails to fully cash in on its strong premise.
Several netizens felt that Maa Inti Baangaram had all the ingredients to become a blockbuster but was let down by weak writing.
One viewer wrote that the plot had huge potential, but the screenplay never rose to that level.
According to the user, the emotional build-up, motivations and key dramatic moments lacked strength. Scenes that should have brought whistles and cheers reportedly failed to land because of poor writing.
The user, however, admitted that the film looked visually appealing and that the family moments worked in parts.
The fight choreography also received some appreciation, but the emotional reasoning behind the major turns was criticised.
Another viewer called the film a “family movie with no family connect.”
The user felt the first half was okay, but the second half turned into a major letdown and gave the feel of a television serial.
The background score was also called subpar by some viewers. While Samantha’s effort was appreciated, a few felt that certain heroic moments and elevations did not suit her.
However, not everyone was disappointed. A section of the audience came out strongly in support of the film, calling it a satisfying theatrical experience.
One viewer described Maa Inti Baangaram as a mix of Kalisundam Raa and Baasha, but with a woman carrying the powerful past instead of a man.
According to the post, the family drama portions worked well, with interesting characters, quirky dialogues and emotional moments.
At the same time, the user felt that the flashback portions needed a stronger antagonist and more impactful conflict. Gulshan Devaiah’s presence was praised, but some felt his character could have been written better.
Samantha, meanwhile, seems to have walked away with the biggest praise. Fans said she carried the film with confidence and looked like a true star in the action blocks.
The action choreography also received positive feedback from supporters, who called it slick and stylish.
Some viewers felt the background score worked well during the action portions and added impact to the narrative.
Supporting characters such as Anasuya, played by Sreemukhi, and Kiranmayi, played by Manjusha, also received appreciation from a few viewers.
Despite mixed reactions, Maa Inti Baangaram has clearly become a talking point on social media.
While some are calling it a missed opportunity, others believe Samantha’s performance and the family-action mix make it a decent watch.
The film is produced by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Raj Nidimoru and Himank Reddy Duvvuru under the Tralala Moving Pictures banner.
