The Sankranti 2027 season is already beginning to look overcrowded, with a growing number of filmmakers and stars dropping their kerchiefs for the festive release window. Industry sources suggest that as many as 10 to 15 films are eyeing the same season
.
The belief appears to be that audiences flock to theatres in large numbers only during Sankranti, while attracting the same footfalls during the rest of the year has become increasingly difficult.
Among the projects reportedly targeting Sankranti 2027 are Anil Ravipudi and Venkatesh’s next film, Chiranjeevi’s project with Bobby, Sharwanand’s upcoming entertainer, a major Dil Raju production, Nagarjuna’s landmark 100th film, Nithiin’s Sankranti Subhakankshalu, Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 173, Ravi Teja’s next outing, and Maruthi’s directorial venture.
As if the competition was not intense enough already, Toxic has now reportedly joined the race as well, making the festive corridor even more crowded.
The trend highlights an interesting reality within the Telugu film industry.
Except for the top four stars of Tollywood, Prabhas, NTR, Ram Charan, and Allu Arjun, most actors and filmmakers seem eager to secure a Sankranti release.
The confidence to dominate non-festival periods appears limited, pushing many projects toward the same lucrative window.
However, not every film can secure prime screens, favorable show timings, and adequate publicity during a packed season.
As more films line up for Sankranti 2027, clashes and last-minute postponements seem inevitable.
History has shown that while the festival season can accommodate multiple releases, there is always a limit. Unless some projects voluntarily move away, things don’t move that easy.
