Music director S. Thaman has made it clear that he has no plans to return to acting and would rather continue focusing on music
.
He made the remark when journalists asked whether he would be inspired by Devi Sri Prasad, who is set to make his acting debut with Yellamma, produced by Dil Raju.
“I acted in Boys at the very beginning of my career. By God’s grace, I became a music director. Acting is a tough job. I would rather sit in an air-conditioned room and compose tunes than face the heat and dust on a film set,” Thaman said with a laugh.
The composer also expressed confidence in Devi Sri Prasad’s acting debut, saying that the latter had chosen a strong script for his first film as an actor.
“I know the entire story of Yellamma. It has blockbuster potential. If they ask me, I’m ready to compose one or two songs for the film. I would love to collaborate with DSP. But acting is not for me,” he said.
Thaman added that he had already conveyed his willingness to support the project in a musical capacity. “I told Dil Raju garu that I’m always ready to help Yellamma as a music director,” he remarked.
The composer also dismissed any notion of professional rivalry, stating that he harbors no jealousy toward fellow music directors and is always open to working with others in the industry.
