Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Maa Inti Bangaaram is enjoying a dream run at the box office.
Released on June 19, the film is an action drama that follows the story of an ex-assassin who is forced to return to her old life after her family is threatened by people from her past.
Since its release, the film has outperformed several Telugu biggies within just 13 days.
After crossing Rs 80 crore in worldwide gross collections and continuing its strong run, Maa Inti Bangaaram has now emerged as the highest-grossing female-led Telugu film of the decade.
This is a significant achievement, especially in an industry traditionally dominated by male stars and male-centric stories.
The success of Samantha’s film clearly shows the growing acceptance of female-led cinema among Telugu audiences.
It also proves that strong storytelling and powerful performances can bring audiences to theatres, irrespective of whether a film is led by a male or female star.
With a worldwide gross of Rs 85.27 crore in just 13 days, Maa Inti Bangaaram has surpassed several notable female-led Telugu films.
It has gone past Mahanati, which collected Rs 84.3 crore, and Rudhrama Devi, which earned Rs 81.05 crore. It has also moved ahead of Bhaagamathie with Rs 64.5 crore, Oh! Baby with Rs 34.45 crore, Yashoda with Rs 32.13 crore, and The Girlfriend with Rs 29.19 crore.
Interestingly, Maa Inti Bangaaram was made on a modest budget of Rs 30 crore. Apart from its Telugu release, the film was also released in Tamil under the title Engal Thangam.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu produced the film under her banner Tralala Moving Pictures, along with her husband and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru and Himank Duvvuru.
The film also features Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, Sreemukhi, Manjusha Mukkavilli, Gautami and others in key roles.
