The Jana Sena Party on Tuesday dismissed speculation surrounding a viral social media photograph that purportedly showed former Srikalahasti party in-charge Vinutha Kota and her husband Chandrababu Kota meeting party general secretary Ram Talluri in Hyderabad.
The photograph triggered widespread speculation on social media, with several users claiming that the couple had met Ram Talluri following an invitation and that the meeting was held at the direction of Jana Sena president and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
Some posts further alleged that crucial discussions had taken place regarding the couple’s political future in the party.
Responding to the viral posts, Ram Talluri clarified that the photograph being circulated was an old one, taken when Vinutha Kota and her husband were still members of the party.
He urged people not to indulge in unnecessary speculation and cautioned against sharing old photographs without context, saying such posts could create confusion and spread misinformation. He advised party workers and the public to rely only on official communication.
Vinutha Kota, who previously served as Jana Sena’s Srikalahasti in-charge, was expelled from the party after her arrest last year in connection with the murder of her driver and party worker Srinivasulu, also known as Rayudu.
Rayudu, a resident of Bokka Sampalem village in Srikalahasti mandal, had worked as a domestic assistant and driver for Vinutha Kota and her husband.
On June 22 last year, the couple publicly announced that they no longer had any association with him. About two weeks later, Rayudu’s body was recovered in Chennai.
The Chennai police subsequently alleged that Vinutha Kota and her husband were responsible for the murder and arrested both of them. Though they later secured bail, the criminal case remains under trial.
Vinutha Kota has consistently denied the allegations, claiming that she and her husband were falsely implicated as part of a conspiracy.
She maintains that they have evidence to prove their innocence and has asserted that they entered politics to serve the public after giving up lucrative careers abroad, not to commit crimes. She has announced that she will soon present evidence to support her claims.
Vinutha Kota contested the 2019 Assembly elections as a Jana Sena candidate but was defeated. In the 2024 elections, the Srikalahasti Assembly seat went to the Telugu Desam Party as part of the NDA alliance’s seat-sharing arrangement, and TDP candidate Sudheer Reddy won the constituency.
Following the formation of the coalition government, differences reportedly emerged between Vinutha Kota and the MLA before her arrest in the murder case.
