Bay Area civic leader Commissioner Raghu Reddy and his wife Padmaja recently hosted a grand gala event in Fremont, California, to celebrate a rare and remarkable family achievement.
Commissioner Raghu Reddy, known as a prominent Indian-born public official in California and a dedicated education leader, is now celebrating a proud family milestone, with both his daughters achieving academic and career success at UC Berkeley, one of the world’s top public universities.
Reddy has been a trailblazer for South Asian representation in California, serving with distinction as a city commissioner and as a prominent figure in local school board governance. He has also served on the boards of various nonprofit organisations.
Both of his daughters, Nidhi and Nitya, earned admission to UC Berkeley’s highly competitive Data Science programme.
His elder daughter, Nidhi, graduated from UC Berkeley this season and has already secured a highly coveted full-time engineering position at a leading FAANG tech company in the Bay Area.
His younger daughter, Nitya, is now beginning her own academic journey in Data Science at UC Berkeley. She was shortlisted by all nine UC campuses, following the high-achieving path set by her sister.
The family described this as a rare, one-in-a-million achievement.
Their success stands as a testimony to hard work, dedication and determination, supported by the strong strategic and emotional guidance of their parents.
The celebration highlighted a true community role-model family. It also showcased the success of the first-generation Indian diaspora in public service and the importance of raising children with discipline, focus and strong values.
The event was attended by family and friends, including mayors, district attorneys, commissioners, council members, CEOs, presidents of various organisations and other dignitaries from California.
GreatAndhra congratulates Commissioner Raghu Reddy, Padmaja, Nidhi and Nitya on their outstanding accomplishments and wishes the family continued success.
