The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged custodial death of Kapu youth Gade Sai Krishna has intensified its investigation by focusing on those who allegedly assisted suspended Circle Inspector Nagaraju in disposing of the victim’s body after his death.
According to sources, investigators are probing what happened to Sai Krishna’s body and where it was allegedly disposed of following his death.
According to the SIT, the Task Force team had brought Sai Krishna from Markapur and handed him over to Krishna Lanka police station.
While records indicate that he remained at the station between May 6 and May 8, investigators are yet to establish what transpired thereafter.
As part of the investigation, the SIT is questioning all 60 personnel attached to Krishna Lanka police station.
Officers are seeking to determine the sequence of events surrounding Sai Krishna’s death, the disappearance of his body, the role played by individual police personnel, and when station staff became aware of the incident.
The SIT is also interrogating five additional Task Force personnel and expects to gather crucial evidence from some of them.
Statements and information provided by Sai Krishna’s family members regarding the alleged involvement of certain police personnel are also being examined.
The custodial death case, which has triggered statewide outrage, continues to reveal new details.
According to the SIT investigation, two head constables and a friend of CI Nagaraju allegedly helped him dispose of Sai Krishna’s body after the custodial death.
Following Nagaraju’s arrest, Head Constables Ashok and Jangam Nani, along with Nagaraju’s associate Suresh, reportedly went into hiding.
Investigators suspect that Head Constable Jangam Nani played a key role in handling private dealings by allegedly using the Circle Inspector’s name.
Sources said Nani had earlier been suspended at Gannavaram and was later transferred to the Reserve (VR) following allegations of irregularities while serving at Patamata police station. He was only recently posted as Head Constable at Krishna Lanka police station.
The SIT has concluded that Ashok, Nani and Suresh played a significant role in helping Nagaraju dispose of the body after Sai Krishna’s death. Authorities have launched an intensive search for the absconding trio.
Investigators have reportedly identified the three individuals as key suspects based on Call Detail Records (CDRs) and CCTV footage.
Once sufficient evidence is collected, they are likely to be formally named as accused and arrested.
