Bill Gates has dropped a shocking confession before a US congressional panel, admitting that he had affairs with three women and claiming that Jeffrey Epstein may have tried to use his private life against him.
During closed-door testimony before the US House Oversight Committee, the Microsoft co-founder said Epstein knew about two of his affairs; with Russian bridge player Mila Antonova and nuclear physicist Karima Nigmatulina.
Gates also admitted to a third affair with medical entrepreneur Alice Jacobs Nesselrodt.
Gates said these affairs had nothing to do with his association with Epstein, but admitted that they caused pain to his family.
“These affairs had nothing to do with my interactions with Epstein, but they were painful for my family,” Gates said, according to the transcript.
The real shock came when Gates claimed that Epstein tried to use information about his infidelities, along with what he called several lies, to pressure him into reconnecting.
“He never blackmailed me, but looking at these emails, it raises a serious probability that he contemplated blackmailing me,” Gates told lawmakers.
Gates also referred to a 2013 email draft by Epstein, saying it appeared to mix facts and false claims in a way that looked “almost like blackmail.”
The billionaire denied any link to Epstein’s crimes and said continuing contact with him was a mistake. He claimed their meetings were mainly about philanthropy and possible donor connections.
Lawmakers also questioned Gates about claims related to an STD scare after an affair. Gates firmly denied it, saying he never had an STD and never secretly gave medication to anyone.
Gates said he met Epstein around 12 to 14 times and had two video calls with him over four years.
He said Epstein repeatedly promised to connect him with wealthy donors, but nothing came out of it.
The Gates Foundation has now announced an external review of its past interactions with Epstein.
What began as a philanthropy connection has now exploded into another embarrassing chapter for Bill Gates, with affairs, blackmail fears and Epstein’s shadow all coming back to haunt him.
