Former Andhra Pradesh minister and YSR Congress Party leader Mudragada Padmanabha Reddy, who has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad for the past week after falling ill, continues to create ripples within his family.
Last week, Mudragada was shifted from his native Kirlampudi village in Kakinada district to Hyderabad, where he was admitted to a private hospital after his health deteriorated.
His family members said he is recovering and that doctors have advised him to rest for at least ten days. They also appealed to the public not to believe rumours regarding his health condition.
However, the issue took a political turn after Mudragada’s daughter, Kranti, made sensational remarks about her father’s condition and criticised YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for turning a blind eye to his health.
Kranti claimed that her father has been on ventilator support for the past ten days and questioned why Jagan had not visited him or even enquired about his health.
She expressed disappointment that, despite her father changing his name in support of Jagan and dedicating himself to the YSRCP, he had not received the respect or attention he deserved.
“Does Jagan remember leaders, workers and supporters only as long as he needs them? Is this the value given to a man who sacrificed everything for the party?” she asked.
She also criticised YSRCP leaders for remaining silent during her father’s illness.
The contrasting statements from family members and Kranti have led to confusion over Mudragada’s actual health condition.
While relatives maintain that he is recovering steadily, Kranti insists that he remains critically ill and is battling for his life on ventilator support.
The latest controversy comes amid an already strained relationship within the family.
Earlier, Kranti had alleged that her father was suffering from cancer and was not receiving proper treatment. She had also accused her brother Giri of preventing others from meeting their father.
Mudragada had then rejected those allegations, stating that he was suffering only from age-related health issues and did not have cancer.
He also denied being isolated and alleged that certain individuals were spreading misinformation because they could not politically counter his son.
