Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Maa Inti Bangaaram may have opened to mixed talk, but the box office has delivered a strong first-day surprise.
The film, directed by BV Nandini Reddy, hit theatres on June 19 and crossed the Rs 10 crore mark worldwide on its opening day.
Despite divided reviews, Samantha’s performance has become the biggest talking point, with fans hailing her screen presence and calling her a true “Lady Superstar.”
Maa Inti Bangaaram marks Samantha’s reunion with Nandini Reddy after their 2019 success Oh! Baby. This time, the actress has returned with a family-action drama that has clearly managed to pull audiences to theatres on Day 1.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Maa Inti Bangaaram collected Rs 5.35 crore net in India on its opening day. The film had 2,658 shows and recorded around 36 per cent occupancy from 2,038 tracked shows.
Its India gross currently stands at Rs 6.20 crore. Overseas, the film collected around Rs 4.50 crore gross, taking its Day 1 worldwide total to Rs 10.70 crore.
The numbers are significant for Samantha because the film has comfortably beaten the opening of her previous solo release Yashoda.
The 2022 thriller had collected Rs 3.06 crore net in India on Day 1, while Maa Inti Bangaaram has opened much stronger.
The film has also outperformed several recent women-centric Telugu releases. Anushka Shetty’s Ghaati opened at Rs 2 crore, while Rashmika Mandanna’s The Girlfriend collected Rs 1.30 crore on its first day. Samantha’s film has crossed both by a clear margin.
Maa Inti Bangaaram has also beaten the opening-day figure of Oh! Baby, which collected around Rs 2.5 crore on Day 1 before becoming a successful theatrical film.
The film also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Diganth Manchale, Gautami, Sreemukhi and Manjusha Mukkavilli in key roles.
It is created by Raj Nidimoru and produced under Samantha’s Tralala Moving Pictures banner, with Raj Nidimoru and Himank Duvvuru as co-producers. Santhosh Narayanan has composed the music.
With strong opening numbers and encouraging overseas collections, Maa Inti Bangaaram has started its box-office journey on a positive note.
The real test now begins with the weekend, which will decide whether Samantha can turn this strong start into a solid theatrical success.
