It has been two weeks since the release of “Peddi”, the second directorial venture of Buchi Babu Sana.
While his debut film, “Uppena”, emerged as a blockbuster, “Peddi” has delivered a mixed result at the box office despite posting impressive numbers in some territories.
Following the film’s release, speculation began circulating that Buchi Babu’s next project could be with Mahesh Babu. However, industry sources suggest that such reports are far from reality.
At present, no major star apart from Ram Charan has reportedly expressed interest in working with the director. In fact, Charan is said to have promised Buchi Babu another collaboration during the making of “Peddi” itself.
The director is believed to be hopeful that the actor will reunite with him after completing his upcoming film with Sukumar.
Whether that project materializes in the near future, however, remains uncertain. Much will depend on Ram Charan’s schedule and the offers that come his way.
If a leading filmmaker approaches him with a strong pan-Indian project, Charan could prioritize that film instead.
As for Mahesh Babu, industry circles believe the superstar is currently focused on collaborating with established directors capable of delivering large-scale pan-Indian blockbusters.
Following his ongoing project with Rajamouli, Mahesh is reportedly looking at filmmakers such as Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prashanth Neel for his future ventures.
Given the current scenario, Buchi Babu may have to wait longer before securing another top star for his next directorial.
While “Peddi” has reinforced his reputation as a filmmaker with a distinct vision, translating that into another marquee collaboration could take time.
