With Peddi nearing the end of its theatrical run after crossing the Rs 300-crore gross mark worldwide, an unexpected social media battle has erupted between the fan bases of Ram Charan and NTR. Although Peddi has delivered mixed results across different territ
ories, the film has strengthened Ram Charan’s box-office standing and earned him widespread appreciation for his performance.
However, instead of celebrating the film’s success, fans of both stars have become locked in a war over box-office numbers.
NTR fans argue that Peddi failed to match the performance of Devara in key overseas markets such as North America.
In response, Ram Charan fans point to the strong figures posted by Peddi in Andhra Pradesh and highlight its overall worldwide collections.
The debate took a different turn when some social media users and a section of the media questioned why NTR had not publicly commented on Peddi.
They pointed out that he had previously appreciated other films, including Sing Geetham, and wondered why he had remained silent about Ram Charan’s latest release.
Many also recalled that Ram Charan had extended his wishes to NTR ahead of the release of Devara. This led to speculation over whether the friendship the two actors displayed during and after the RRR phase had cooled.
NTR’s supporters, however, dismissed such claims.
They argued that several celebrities, including S S Rajamouli and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, had attended special screenings of Peddi but did not post reviews or reactions on social media. Singling out NTR, they said, was unfair.
According to them, whether NTR liked the film or not is a personal matter, and his decision not to post about it should not be interpreted as a sign of a rift with Ram Charan.
At the end of the day, the online rivalry appears to be driven more by fan emotions than by any real issue between the two stars.
With Peddi having already completed most of its theatrical run, the continuing social media clashes seem largely unnecessary.
