Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced National Highway projects worth nearly Rs 40,000 crore for Meghalaya at NEIINFRA 2026 in Shillong and said the government will bring road infrastructure in the Northeast “equivalent to the progressive, prosperous and developed states of India.” Gadkari also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for six National Highway projects worth Rs 3,214 crore, including the Pynursla Bypass, Tura Bypass and key road connectivity projects across the state.
