A 27-year-old software engineer died under suspicious circumstances during a weekend office party at a farmhouse in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
The deceased was identified as Gandla Ramu, a native of Mancherial district. He was employed at a software company in Ramanthapur, Hyderabad.
According to police, Ramu, around 15 of his colleagues and their team leader went to the farmhouse for a weekend get-together. The party reportedly began on Saturday evening and continued late into the night.
After midnight, Ramu was found unconscious in the swimming pool on the farmhouse premises. His colleagues rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
After receiving information, Choutuppal police reached the farmhouse and shifted the body for a postmortem examination. During the preliminary investigation, officers reportedly noticed injuries on Ramu’s body, raising suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police said there were no CCTV cameras at the farmhouse, making it difficult to establish the exact sequence of events. Investigators are questioning everyone who attended the party and recording their statements.
“We have registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s father. All angles are being investigated, and the exact cause of death will be known only after the postmortem report is received,” Choutuppal Inspector N Manmadha Rao said.
Ramu’s family alleged that he had been murdered. Following a complaint filed by his father, G Anjaiah, police registered a murder case.
