India’s T20I captain and star cricketer Shreyas Iyer has rented a luxury apartment in Mumbai’s upscale Worli locality, with the monthly rent starting at Rs 18.50 lakh.
According to property registration documents cited by Square Yards, the apartment is located in Artesia, Worli, and covers an area of around 360 square metres, or 3,875 square feet. The property also comes with four parking spaces.
Iyer has signed a three-year lease and paid a security deposit of Rs 74 lakh. The deal reportedly involved stamp duty of Rs 1.84 lakh and registration charges of Rs 1,000.
Under the rental agreement, the monthly rent will increase by around 7% every year. It will rise from Rs 18.50 lakh in the first year to Rs 19.79 lakh in the second year and Rs 21.18 lakh in the third.
The total rental value over the three-year period is estimated at Rs 7.14 crore.
The high-profile property deal comes at an important stage in Iyer’s career. The 31-year-old has reportedly taken over the leadership of India’s T20I team from Suryakumar Yadav after going through a turbulent period over the past two-and-a-half years.
Iyer’s comeback has been remarkable, particularly in the shortest format, where competition for places in the Indian team remains extremely high.
His career appeared to be at a crossroads in February 2024, when he lost his BCCI central contract along with Ishan Kishan after missing domestic matches for Mumbai.
It took Iyer nearly a year to regain his central contract. During that period, he was also left out of India’s squads for major tournaments, including the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups and the 2025 Asia Cup.
Despite the setbacks, Iyer stayed away from public complaints and social media outbursts. Instead, he focused on improving his batting, recovering from injuries and rebuilding his career.
His rise from losing a central contract to reportedly leading India’s T20I side reflects his determination and ability to bounce back from difficult phases.
