The long-running political rivalry between former Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani and his brother, sitting Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, popularly known as Chinni, has intensified once again, with
Nani launching a series of public attacks over the arrest of local TDP leaders and allegations of illegal mining activities.
The latest flashpoint emerged following the arrest of Nani’s childhood friend Tatineni Rambabu.
Responding through a series of social media posts, Kesineni Nani accused the police of high-handedness and alleged misuse of state machinery against those questioning illegal activities in the Vijayawada parliamentary constituency.
Nani claimed that police personnel detained Rambabu for nearly 11 hours before formally registering a case, violating constitutional protections under Article 21.
He further alleged that despite Rambabu’s health issues, including a heart condition and a recent eye surgery, the police subjected him to harassment.
The former MP also questioned the filing of attempted murder charges against party leaders who had allegedly raised concerns about illegal fly ash transportation and gravel mining operations in the Mylavaram constituency.
According to Nani, local leaders Uyyuru Pedababu and Ramesh Reddy had exposed alleged irregularities related to fly ash and gravel extraction through social media posts supported by evidence.
He alleged that instead of addressing the complaints, the authorities first facilitated disciplinary action within the party, followed by arrests and criminal cases.
Nani further accused his brother Chinni and his associate Mulpuri Kishore of being linked to the alleged mining network, though the claims have not been officially substantiated.
He alleged that the arrested leaders were detained while returning from the TDP headquarters in Mangalagiri and were subsequently remanded to Nandigama Sub-Jail under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to attempted murder.
Describing the developments as a serious attack on democratic principles, Nani demanded an independent inquiry into both the alleged illegal mining activities and the criminal cases registered against the party leaders.
