Legendary director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao has made numerous experimental films with first-of-their-kind subjects that remain relevant even today. The veteran filmmaker is now coming up with
another intriguing film, Sing Geetham, produced by Nag Ashwin under the banners of Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema.
Nag Ashwin has described Sing Geetham as one of the most daring and original films ever attempted, praising Singeetham for bringing a decades-old dream to life.
“Producing films is not my primary job. I only produce a film when I truly love a story and feel that no one else can make it the way it deserves to be made. Jathi Ratnalu was one such film. Sing Geetham is another. It is an incredibly unique subject, and I made it out of my admiration for Singeetham and my faith in his vision,” he said.
One of the film’s biggest attractions is its unusual storytelling style. Every dialogue appears in musical form, yet the narrative never feels like a conventional musical. According to Nag Ashwin, viewers quickly stop noticing the format and become completely absorbed in the world and characters.
He also praised Devi Sri Prasad’s contribution, calling the project one of the most challenging musical undertakings of the composer’s career. The film features continuous music woven seamlessly into the narrative, creating an experience that feels organic rather than staged.
“After watching the film, we genuinely feel that Sing Geetham is a never-before-and-never-after kind of film. Nothing like this has been made before, and it may be difficult for anyone to replicate it in the future. We are fortunate that our generation gets to experience a film like this from Singeetham,” he said.
The producer added that audiences should consider themselves fortunate to witness a new work from a filmmaker who continues to think with the imagination and curiosity of a teenager even at the age of 94.
Nag Ashwin also gave an update on Kalki 2, saying that production activities will pick up from next month.
