The Telugu film release calendar appears headed for a major reshuffle, with several big-ticket films likely to change their release dates.
Industry sources say OTT agreements and changing theatrical dynamics are playing a key role in the latest scheduling decisions.
Chiranjeevi’s long-pending Vishwambhara is now expected to arrive during the Dasara season, with October 16 emerging as the target release date.
While the film’s OTT deal is yet to be finalised, the makers are reportedly in the final stages of negotiations and are keen to stick to the festive release window.
Meanwhile, Prabhas’ Fauji has become one of the biggest factors influencing the release calendar.
Netflix has reportedly reminded Mythri Movie Makers of a contractual clause requiring the film to release in 2026. As a result, the production house is now said to be working towards a December 4 theatrical release.
That move could directly impact Balakrishna’s NBK111. Although the film’s team recently indicated that it was eyeing a December release, it is unlikely to share the window with Fauji. If Prabhas’ film occupies the slot, NBK111 is expected to shift to Sankranthi 2027.
Nani’s The Paradise is also expected to advance its release plans. With the Dasara season likely to be occupied by Vishwambhara and Jailer 2, and December becoming crowded if Fauji sticks to its schedule, the makers are now said to be considering September 25 as the most suitable release date.
Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali is also expected to move from its planned September 11 release date. However, the film is still likely to hit theatres before the end of 2026.
As of now, none of these changes has been officially announced. However, a clearer picture is expected to emerge in the coming weeks as producers finalise their release strategies.
