Akshay And Priyadarshan To Join For Ninth Time

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan will collaborate for their ninth film, a comedy thriller backed by Tips Films. After exiting Hera Pheri 3, the duo confirmed the project will roll by December 2026
. Priyadarshan has penned the story blending fun and thrills, marking a fresh genre attempt for both.
The screenplay will be developed with Rohan Shankar, who also wrote Bhooth Bangla. Akshay praised their disciplined 7 AM to 3 PM shoots, calling it a “no-tension” environment that fuels creativity. Priyadarshan retains scenes only if he laughs while filming, a rule behind his 40 year hit streak.
Priyadarshan’s Pankaj Tripathi dramedy and Mohanlal film are postponed to 2027 for script reworks. Meanwhile, Akshay and Priyadarshan delivered Bhooth Bangla in April 2026, earning ₹269.22 crore worldwide, and will release thriller Haiwaan with Saif Ali Khan on September 11, 2026.
The Tips Films venture is their second after 2014’s Entertainment and follows seven classics like Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Hera Pheri 3 remains pending legal issues. With Haiwaan on SonyLIV post-theatrical, the duo continues dominating comedy and thrillers while expanding to new stories.
