Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is set to headline a big-budget superhero entertainer directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
Scripting is complete and the project is in pre-production, with an official announcement expected soon. Filming is targeted to begin in October 2026 after extensive pre-visualization and technical prep. The film marks Raj & DK’s return to theatrical features since A Gentleman in 2017.
Atul Agnihotri is producing, with Mythri Movie Makers in talks to join as studio partner. The story follows an ageing superhero reluctantly pulled back into action, blending Raj & DK’s signature humour with large-scale set pieces. Rather than a traditional origin tale, it’s described as a quirky take on a retiring crime-fighter facing one final battle. The team is designing the film for global audiences, eyeing top-tier VFX with companies like Weta FX reportedly in discussions.
Kareena Kapoor Khan has emerged as the frontrunner for the female lead and is in advanced talks, marking her fifth collaboration with Salman after Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Salman reportedly reached out personally to accelerate discussions. Earlier reports linking Samantha Ruth Prabhu were denied by sources close to the film. Casting for the lead actress is expected to be locked in the coming months.
Before starting the Raj & DK project, Salman will shoot Vamshi Paidipally’s untitled action film with Nayanthara, slated for an Eid 2027 release. The superhero film is tentatively eyeing a 2028 theatrical debut after wrapping the October-November 2027 schedule. Raj & DK, fresh off streaming hits like The Family Man, Farzi, and Guns & Gulaabs, aim to deliver a new-age Indian superhero spectacle with Salman’s mass appeal and stylised action.
