Amid speculation that NCP (SP) might join hands with NDA, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Friday urged NCP (SP) to stay put with Maha Vikas Aghadi and INDIA bloc.
“There is speculation NCP (SP) might join hands with NDA after a meeting between Sharad Pawar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sharad Pawar is a leader of leftist ideology and believes in Phule-Shahu-Ambedkar philosophy. He should not go with those who believe in Manusmirti,” Chavan said in Nashik.
Reacting to Chavan’s statement urging Pawar not to join hands those with Manusmriti ideologies, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule said Maharashtra’s Congress leaders always put her party into the wrong box. “This may be because they lack coordination with Congress leaders at the central level,” she said.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Chavan said he spoke about Pawar when he was asked a question about speculation of NCP (SP) likely to join hands with NDA.
Meanwhile, Chavan also predicted a change in power at the Centre.
“A change of power in the country is certain in the coming future. It will not happen because of us, nor because of the Congress or any other political party. Rather, this change will happen because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. The reason for this is his governance over the last 12 years… Modi will not be the Prime Minister in 2029. Therefore, an attempt is now being made to change the face. Amit Shah wants to become the Deputy Prime Minister.”
