Anirudh Says Raga Of Revenge From Dc Was Composed Within 48 Hours Made For The Trailer Before Screening At Cannes

During the chat, Anirudh said, “This was made not as a track. It was made because this film's trailer was to be played in Cannes. Just a couple of days before we had to submit it, probably about 48 hours before, we got to know that the trailer would be sent to the film festival, so I had to score for the trailer. We thought why not release it online as well, it would be cool. It was earlier to the film's release; generally we release trailers closer to the date.”

After release, Anirudh says that there were a lot of requests for the track to be put separately. “I loaded the visual and it was going to Cannes and I thought let us be as Indian as it can be so that was the idea in my head. Then I thought why not make it a South-Indian rhythm with Hindustani vocal! Show them both North and South of India! We started with the rhythm first and the idea was to have a proper South Indian beat and then the North came in. Once I had the vocals I started producing it,” he added.

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, DC is a modern adaptation of the Devdas story. The film follows Devadas, also known as Das, a violent gangster who is estranged from his father. His relationship with Parvathy, a bar singer, is cut short, while Chandra, an abused and exploited prostitute, sees hope in Das.

An excerpt from the Hindustan Times review of the film reads, "DC might have a familiar story to tell, but Arun Matheswaran does enough to ensure you don’t know what’s coming next. Lokesh makes a stellar debut, as Wamiqa and Krish aid him with their dependable performances. For once, a tale of a saviour trying to deliver justice in his own manner doesn’t rub you the wrong way. DC is a beautifully brutal tale of people broken by the system that lingers long after it’s done. To me, that's a win."
