David's latest film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, was released in theatres on June 5. The film stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in lead roles, with Chunky Panday, Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy and Maniesh Paul among others in supporting parts. The romantic comedy opened to mixed reviews from critics.
During the film's promotions, David hinted that he may retire after the movie. He told ANI, "I don’t think I should do more. Vo to chahta hi nahi main kaam bhi karu healthwise dekhkar (Varun doesn’t want me to work, considering my health). This might be my last film… after this, I’ll just be Varun’s father. I will look after you… look after your family. Main ghusunga nahi Varun ki picture main (I won't be involved in his picture), but I’ll be there with him all the time."
Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor is awaiting the release of his upcoming film, Alpha. Helmed by Shiv Rawail, the film also stars Sharvari, Alia Bhatt and Bobby Deol in lead roles. The YRF Spy Universe film is scheduled to release in theatres on July 3.
