With Peddi in theatre now, the big question now is, what next for Tollywood in 2026?
Peddi was arguably the biggest Telugu release to arrive nearly six months after the Sankranti season, bringing significant footfalls to theatres and giving exhibitors much-needed momentum. However, after its run, the release calendar appears less certain.
While several films are lined up for release in the coming months, many of them still lack clarity regarding their release dates.
More importantly, most of these projects do not possess the kind of star power or mass appeal that Peddi carried.
If Fauzi starring Prabhas manages to stick to its currently targeted December release, it could emerge as the next major crowd-puller for theatres.
Another film generating strong interest is Nani’s The Paradise, which has the potential to operate on a bigger scale. However, its release date remains uncertain as well.
Apart from these titles, the remaining films largely fall into the mid-range or upper mid-range category.
They may perform well based on content and word of mouth, but they are not necessarily the kind of large-scale theatrical attractions that can guarantee massive openings purely on star value.
