Hear from Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal, who explained this with a powerful metaphor. And yes, it is thought-provoking, the question he addressed: what happens after you achieve your goal?
The actor was candid and opened up about it on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast on November 29, 2023, where the host asked him about his goal. In response, Vicky shared his perspective on ambition without a final line, one that keeps expanding so a person continues to move forward and improve.
Vickey answered to the question of what's your goal, "I wanted to be there but I don't want to reach there because as they say that the wolf climbing the hill is always hungrier than the wolf on the hill, so I want to be the wolf climbing the hill and I want to keep seeing that peak, I should never reach because every time I reach there, I reach there, now what? You are going to come down only or just stay there. I just wanna keep climbing. A goal is something that probably is set a new goal every year, every phase, every few years, but just whatever the limits are for this profession whatever, I want to achieve it all."
Vicky Kaushal's idea of success is deeply motivating. His perspective teaches that achieving success does not mean stopping. Like a wolf hungry enough to climb the mountain, he believes in nurturing the drive and passion, necessary to keep evolving and growing.
Once a person reaches the top, they may become too comfortable. So, the goal is to never let ambition skip into sluggish complacency. Instead, focus on being curious, continuing to improve and persistently pushing yourself forward.
And as the actor suggested, even if he reaches one milestone, he would still want to work harder and aim for something even bigger. So, it is very important to let the definition of success grow. Success should not be regarded as the final destination. Finality can bring a sense of passivity. After enduring hardships and finally entering a comfort zone, one may stop trying.
Through this metaphor, Vicky wanted to tell that one should never stop setting their goals, because there is always another peak to climb.
Ambition has no final destination. It must keep evolving and give you something worthwhile to chase.
