A senior editor associated with a prominent Telugu newspaper has become the subject of intense discussion in political and media circles following allegations that he amassed significant wealth and acquired large-scale land holdings in Andhra Pradesh through alleged benami transactions.

According to reports in a section of digital media, this newspaper editor is said to have risen from rags to riches within a few years, thanks to his proximity to a prominent political leader from Andhra Pradesh.

Sources said the journalist-turned-millionaire recently purchased between 90 and 100 acres of land near Rajampet in the Tirupati region of Chittoor district at an estimated cost of around Rs 43 crore.

Sources also claim that he has been publicly flaunting his wealth by arriving at the newspaper office in a luxury car.

It is learnt that several of these transactions were allegedly carried out in the names of benamis and relatives.

Though no official records or public confirmations have yet emerged regarding the purchases, his wealth has become a major topic of discussion in media circles.

Interestingly, this newspaper editor reportedly maintains close ties even with political leaders who are rivals of the leader with whom he is said to have connections.

This, sources say, is why he has been able to build strong influence across governments and bureaucratic circles.

His ability to maintain proximity with influential leaders and senior bureaucrats has enabled him to wield considerable behind-the-scenes influence.

A political leader reportedly remarked that the editor’s “talent” lies not only in journalism but also in sustaining cordial relationships with those in power despite changing political equations.

According to the allegations, some IAS officers are allegedly acting as intermediaries in facilitating his connections with key government figures.

There is also speculation within ruling party circles that the editor played a role in preventing sensitive issues related to certain influential leaders in the Andhra Pradesh government from becoming public.

Sources further allege that the editor had earlier acquired valuable land parcels in various parts of the Rayalaseema region, including the erstwhile Kadapa district, through strategic political and bureaucratic networking.

Despite the growing buzz, no official complaint, investigation or response from the editor or the media organisation concerned has been made public so far.

The allegations remain unverified, but the issue has generated widespread attention due to the editor’s prominence in Telugu journalism and the scale of the alleged land acquisitions.
