Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci received a 25-year prison sentence for war crimes. He was found guilty of murder and torture during the 1990s conflict. Thaci and other KLA commanders denied all charges leveled against them. Thousands rallied in Pristina supporting the convicted former KLA leaders. The conflict ended after NATO airstrikes and displaced many ethnic Albanians.
