Yash has finally reacted to Rashmika Mandanna’s old “Mr Showoff” comment, years after the remark created controversy among Kannada cinema fans.
Rashmika, who began her career in the Kannada film industry before becoming a pan-India star, had described Yash as “Mr Showoff” during an interview in 2017.
The comment triggered strong backlash at the time, particularly from Yash’s fans, forcing Rashmika to later issue an apology and clarify her remarks.
Now, during his appearance on Aap Ki Adalat with Rajat Sharma, Yash was asked about the controversy.
The actor said he did not know in what context Rashmika had made the comment and pointed out that she was still new to the industry at the time.
He said such remarks are often made during television interviews where celebrities are given multiple options and asked to pick one.
Yash made it clear that he was not offended by the comment.
According to him, everyone has the right to express an opinion, but someone else’s opinion does not define his personality.
“Anybody can give an opinion about you. But somebody’s opinion will not be my personality. Who I am does not change because of someone else’s point of view,” he said.
Yash also sent a strong message to his fans, saying, “If you don’t respect another actor, then you are not my fan.”
The actor is currently gearing up for the release of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas.
The action thriller stars Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.
The film has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification and reportedly has a runtime of 194 minutes.
Set in post-Independence Goa, Toxic follows a gangster caught between loyalty, morality, violence and redemption.
The trailer has received praise from one section of the audience, while the intimate scenes featuring Yash and Kiara Advani have also attracted criticism.
Responding to that controversy, Yash said vulgarity is wrong and maintained that intimate scenes should be presented aesthetically.
He also described Toxic as a film aimed at Gen Z audiences.
Apart from Toxic, Yash is also part of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, in which his portrayal of Ravana has already generated considerable attention.
