The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted searches at multiple locations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as part of its investigation linked to the murder of former Andhra Pradesh minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy.
ED teams have been carrying out searches at six locations in Hyderabad and Pulivendula in Kadapa district since Friday morning.
In Hyderabad, officials from the ED’s zonal office searched the Kokapet residence of Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy.
In Pulivendula, ED officials also reached Avinash Reddy’s residence. As the house was locked when they arrived, they reportedly waited outside for some time.
Officials later summoned Avinash Reddy’s paternal uncle, Manohar Reddy, and got the house opened before beginning the searches.
The ED also conducted searches at the residences of Vivekananda Reddy murder case accused Sunil Yadav, Devireddy Shivashankar Reddy and Yerra Gangireddy.
The financial investigation agency has registered a separate case based on certain aspects that emerged during the Central Bureau of Investigation’s probe into Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.
The ED is now examining allegations relating to possible money laundering and financial transactions linked to the case.
The agency is understood to be particularly focusing on financial transactions that allegedly took place before the murder.
Several details that emerged during the CBI investigation are now being subjected to a deeper financial probe.
A key focus of the ED investigation is reportedly the source and movement of around Rs 4 crore allegedly paid to the accused.
The agency is trying to establish where the money came from, who arranged it, how it was transferred, and who ultimately received or used it.
