
Mrs. Sobha Reddy and her husband, Mr. Prasad Reddy, are dedicated philanthropists whose lives reflect a deep commitment to serving people in need. Through their generosity and compassion, they have made a meaningful difference in the lives of children, families and underserved communities in both India and the United States. Recently, Mrs. Sobha Reddy contributed $25,000 towards food-delivery trucks that will serve nutritious meals to schoolchildren in Ballari, Karnataka. Together, the Reddys have also pledged $250,000 towards an Akshaya Patra kitchen that is expected to provide breakfast and lunch to nearly 15,000 schoolchildren every day. The project is currently in the planning stage, with efforts underway to acquire five acres of land near Venkatachalam, outside Nellore. Their commitment to children also extends to an initiative to provide free shoes to underprivileged boys and girls attending PRATHAM skill centres. The programme will initially cover 10 centres in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh before expanding to other states. The Reddys have also made a major contribution to healthcare by donating $550,000 to Sankara Nethralaya USA to establish a new MESU facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and support eye camps in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Eight eye camps have already been conducted in Andhra Pradesh, while the ninth is scheduled to be held in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, from September 27 to October 6. Mr. Prasad Reddy has been a committed supporter and Brand Ambassador of Sankara Nethralaya USA since its inception in 1988. He currently serves as a Board Advisor and Brand Ambassador. As President and CEO of Twisted X, he has also demonstrated a strong commitment to philanthropy. Around 13% of the company’s profits are contributed annually to nonprofit organisations in the Dallas area, with donations reportedly exceeding $2 million each year. His philanthropic service has been recognised by the New Jersey State Senate and Assembly, including through a joint resolution presented at a Sankara Nethralaya event in New Jersey. Sankara Nethralaya is also honouring Mr. Reddy with the prestigious Sankara Ratna Award in Chennai.
