In Photos India Australia Finalise Uranium Export Deal During Pm Modis Visit

India and Australia have agreed on a deal to export Australian uranium to India for use in the nuclear energy industry ( by PTI)

The deal came during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country ( by PTI)

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described India and Australia as "close partners" and said the two countries have officially cleared the way for Australian uranium exports to India by finalising an operational arrangement under their long-standing civil nuclear framework ( by PTI)

He added that the arrangement would facilitate Australian uranium exports to India to help increase the share of non-fossil fuel power capacity while also creating an additional market for Australia's resources sector ( by PTI)

PM Modi, while addressing the joint briefing, said that India’s relationship with Australia presented “historic opportunities” for both countries to cooperate across several areas ( by PTI)

In a later statement, Modi said, “Today, we have signed an important agreement in the field of nuclear energy. This will open the way for uranium supplies from Australia to India and give new impetus to our clean energy objectives” ( by PTI)

PM Modi told his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese that they will together strengthen peace, stability, freedom of navigation, and a rules-based order across the Indo-Pacific region ( by PTI)

Modi is in Australia as part of a three-nation trip. He has completed his visit to Indonesia and will head to New Zealand ( by PTI)
