Update: The Boston Police Department has confirmed that a man died after being stabbed following a fight on the escalator at South Station on Wednesday evening, the Boston Herald confirmed.
The man was found with a single stab wound, bleeding near the escalator when officers responded to the MBTA's Red Line platform. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“Our thoughts and prayers are obviously with the young man who is no longer with us,” Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden said.
“Obviously given the time of day, there’s a number of witnesses, so anyone who knows anything about what may have happened… either before, during or after this altercation, we need you to contact the Boston Police Department if you have any information as we continue to move forward with the investigation,” he added.

Visitors at the station shared photos showing crime scene tape around the escalators. Some visitors reported on Reddit that blood could be seen at the station following the incident.
