Balineni Damacharla War Widens Tdp Jana Sena Rift

The ongoing war of words between former Andhra Pradesh minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan appears to be widening the rift between the Jana Sena Party and the Telugu Desam Party in Prakasam district.

Both leaders have now dragged their respective parties into what began as a personal political battle in Ongole, creating uneasiness between the two alliance partners.

Reports suggest that the TDP and Jana Sena are virtually at loggerheads in the district, causing some discomfort even at the state level.

Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, who resigned from the YSR Congress Party after the 2024 elections and later joined the Jana Sena Party, challenged Damacharla Janardhan to resign from the Assembly and contest the next election independently.

Balineni claimed that Janardhan had won twice only with the support of Jana Sena and had lost elections when he contested without its backing.

He also questioned Janardhan’s repeated claim that he had won the recent election by a margin of 34,000 votes.

“If he is confident of his strength, both of us should resign and contest independently,” Balineni said, challenging Janardhan to prove his political strength.

He added that he would quit politics if Janardhan managed to secure a majority of 30,000 votes in such a contest.

Balineni also demanded a comprehensive inquiry into alleged corruption and irregularities involving the Ongole MLA. He alleged that cases had been filed against his followers and that they were being harassed for political reasons.

According to Balineni, Janardhan was allegedly involved in irregularities related to ration rice, sand and liquor outlets. He claimed that he had evidence to support his allegations and demanded a probe into the transactions.

Balineni said he would continue to intervene wherever people were allegedly facing injustice and announced that he would remain available in Ongole for four days every week.

Janardhan, meanwhile, accused Balineni of using the Jana Sena platform while allegedly working in favour of the YSR Congress Party and trying to create differences within the ruling alliance.

Janardhan alleged that 79 illegal cases had been registered against him during the previous YSRCP government.

He also claimed that he had evidence to support his allegations against Balineni and his son, Praneeth Reddy.

He further challenged Balineni to take an oath at Kanipakam and declare that no irregularities had taken place during the previous government.

With both leaders refusing to back down, their personal rivalry is now threatening to turn into a larger political problem for the TDP-Jana Sena alliance in Prakasam district.
