Anupama Parameswaran has once again spoken openly about a difficult phase in her personal life, revealing how a past relationship affected her confidence, career and even the way she viewed herself as a woman.
The actress had earlier said that she was in a controlling relationship with an unnamed person for nearly two years and that it took time for her to heal after walking away from it.
“I was in a situation where I was ashamed that I was an actor. I was ashamed that I was confident. I was ashamed that I have my periods and I’m a woman,” she said.
Anupama also explained how disagreements in the relationship were allegedly dismissed by linking them to her menstrual cycle.
She said that no matter when she confronted her former partner about a mistake, he would allegedly respond by saying she was PMSing or that her period was approaching.
According to Anupama, this repeated behaviour made her feel ashamed of being a woman.
She also revealed that the experience changed her outlook on motherhood.
“I was someone who dreamt of having 11 children. At this point, I don’t even want kids. I felt so bad for being a woman. I felt so bad for all my achievements,” she said.
This is not the first time Anupama has spoken about the relationship.
In an earlier social media post, she described the experience as “narcissistic abuse” and alleged that her former partner gradually started controlling different aspects of her personal and professional life.
She described the relationship as a cycle of extreme emotional highs and lows.
According to her, there were days when her partner showered her with love and care, followed by days when he allegedly behaved in a harsh and insensitive manner.
She said that he would later apologise, promise not to repeat the behaviour and then return to the same cycle again.
Anupama has never publicly identified the person she was referring to.
However, her comments have once again triggered speculation among fans about actor Dhruv Vikram.
Anupama and Dhruv shared screen space in Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamaadan, and dating rumours surrounding the two gained momentum in 2025.
Fans had earlier linked them after an unverified photograph and a shared Spotify playlist surfaced online. Their appearances at award functions also added to the speculation.
However, there is no confirmation that Dhruv Vikram is the person Anupama referred to while speaking about her past relationship.
Anupama herself has not named her former partner, and any attempt to connect her allegations to a particular individual remains speculation.
